What are polynucleotides for hair?
Polynucleotides — purified salmon DNA fragments — applied to the scalp via fine needle, prompting the regenerative environment around the hair follicle. The same molecule we use for skin, applied to a different problem.
Polynucleotides have particular evidence for the hairline and crown, where follicle miniaturisation is often the earliest visible sign of androgenetic change. The treatment can be used alongside exosome therapy, PRP, and topical or oral therapies; it does not interfere with any of them.
How it works
The polynucleotide gel is delivered via micro-injection into the scalp at the layer where dermal papilla cells sit. The DNA fragments break down over the following weeks, providing nucleotides that the regenerative cells use as raw material — and quietening the inflammatory environment that drives follicle miniaturisation in androgenetic patterns.
Who it's for
Hairline thinning, crown thinning, early miniaturisation. Often layered with exosome therapy or PRP for clients who want a multi-modal regenerative approach.
The Lumara protocol
Course of three sessions at three-week intervals, then maintenance every six months. Where the area being treated is small (hairline only), a shorter course can be enough.
Aftercare
Mild redness at the injection points; possible small bruising for up to 5 days. Avoid washing the hair for 24 hours.
Frequently asked
Polynucleotides for Hair, in plain English.
Can polynucleotides be combined with exosomes?
Yes — the two work via different mechanisms (DNA-fragment-driven vs vesicle-signalling) and the combination is often more effective than either alone. We will recommend a sequence at consultation.
Is there a fish allergy concern?
The polynucleotide is derived from purified salmon DNA, but the purification removes the proteins that drive fish allergies. We assess clients with severe fish allergy individually at consultation.
