What is the Lumara Signature Exosome Facial?
The Lumara Signature Exosome Facial is the regenerative protocol the clinic was built around. It combines medical-grade microneedling — controlled microchannels in the upper dermis — with topical application of a proprietary plant-derived exosome formulation, finished with light-emitting-diode therapy to settle the skin and amplify the cellular signal. It is the treatment we performed in Marylebone before most of our neighbours had heard the word "exosome".
The visible result is brighter, smoother, more even-toned skin. The underlying result is more meaningful: the protocol re-instructs the fibroblasts in the dermis to produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid at rates closer to those of a younger face. It is not a peel and not a filler. It is a regenerative reset.
How it works
Exosomes are nano-scale extracellular vesicles — packets of signalling proteins, mRNA and lipids — that cells use to communicate with one another. When applied to skin that has been opened by precise microchannels, exosomes are absorbed into the upper dermis, where they reach the fibroblasts that build the skin's structural matrix. The signalling cargo prompts those fibroblasts to behave more like young, regenerative cells: producing more collagen, more elastin, more hyaluronic acid, and laying it down in better-organised patterns.
The exosome product we use is plant-derived, fully regulated for cosmetic topical application in the United Kingdom, and chosen specifically because it does not contain human-derived material. We do not inject exosomes. We do not use any product that has not been independently characterised. The full provenance is published on our Sources & Regulation page.
The microneedling depth is calibrated for each face — typically between 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm, deeper through areas of textural concern (acne scarring, pore size) and shallower through delicate periorbital skin. Following the exosome application, we finish with a structured LED protocol — red and near-infrared wavelengths to settle inflammation and accelerate the regenerative phase.
Who it's for
The Lumara Signature Exosome Facial is for adults whose primary concerns are skin quality rather than volume — early ageing, dullness, uneven tone, fine lines, post-acne textural change, or visibly compromised barrier function from over-treatment elsewhere. It works particularly well on clients in their thirties and forties who want their face to age more slowly without any indication of intervention.
It is also one of the few treatments we offer to clients in their twenties without hesitation, because it is restorative rather than additive — there is no filler, no neuromodulator, and no resurfacing. It is a maintenance protocol you start once and continue, on your own timetable, indefinitely.
It is not the right treatment for established deep folds, significant volume loss, or sun damage requiring resurfacing. We will tell you so at consultation.
The Lumara protocol
What separates our exosome facial from those offered elsewhere in Marylebone is what surrounds the procedure itself. Every new client begins with a thirty-minute mapping consultation, including a high-resolution skin analysis. We document baseline barrier function, melanin distribution, vascular density and surface texture. The protocol — depth, exosome concentration, LED sequence — is then calibrated to that map, not to a menu.
After the treatment, you leave with a take-home regimen built around our proprietary post-procedure serum, designed specifically to extend the regenerative window. We follow up at the four-week mark to re-image and assess progression. Where the response justifies it, we recommend continuing as a course of three to four sessions; where the single treatment has done what it needed to, we say so.
Aftercare
The first 24 hours. Mild redness and warmth are expected — the skin reads visibly "treated" for the rest of the day. Avoid makeup, exercise, hot showers, alcohol and direct sun. Sleep on a clean pillowcase.
Days 2–7. Skin may feel slightly tight or look subtly bronzed as the regenerative response builds. Continue your take-home serum twice daily. Resume your normal routine on day three, but no acids, retinoids or active vitamin C until day seven. SPF 50 every morning is non-negotiable.
Weeks 2–6. This is when the visible change settles. Tone evens out, fine lines soften, the skin reflects light more evenly. Photographs taken at week six are the meaningful comparison — not photographs taken the day after.
Frequently asked
Lumara Signature Exosome Facial, in plain English.
Is the Lumara Signature Exosome Facial safe?
Yes. Our protocol uses plant-derived exosomes applied topically, delivered via medical-grade microneedling. Treatments are performed by a GMC-registered doctor or NMC-registered senior nurse, in our clinic at 20 Welbeck Street. We do not inject exosomes and we do not use human-derived sources — for the regulatory reasoning, see our Sources & Regulation page.
How many sessions will I need?
Many clients see meaningful results from a single session, with peak results building over four to six weeks. For lasting structural change we recommend a course of three to four treatments at four-week intervals, then a maintenance treatment every six to eight months. We will tell you which path is right at consultation.
Is there downtime?
Mild redness for 12–24 hours is normal. Most clients return to work the same day; we recommend avoiding makeup, exercise and direct sun for 24 hours. Full results are visible at four to six weeks.
Can I have this treatment if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
We do not perform regenerative protocols during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. We're happy to keep your records open and book you in once you've finished.
How does it compare to a HydraFacial or chemical peel?
HydraFacials and peels are surface treatments — they exfoliate, hydrate, and brighten the upper layers of skin. The Lumara Signature Exosome Facial works deeper, instructing the cells responsible for the skin's structural matrix to behave like younger cells. The two are complementary, not interchangeable. We are happy to recommend a peel for the right concern.
What if I have sensitive skin or rosacea?
Microneedling-based protocols can flare rosacea and are not appropriate for actively inflamed skin. We will assess you in person at consultation; in many cases we recommend a calmer protocol first to stabilise the barrier, then introduce the exosome facial once the skin is ready.
