What is PRF Biofiller?
PRF — platelet-rich fibrin — is the second generation of autologous regenerative therapy. Where PRP is liquid plasma reapplied topically, PRF is processed differently to form a soft, gel-like fibrin matrix. That matrix slowly releases growth factors over a window of around fourteen days, producing a longer and more sustained regenerative signal than PRP delivers in a single hit.
PRF can be used as a topical treatment with microneedling, or — when prepared as a denser gel — as a fully autologous biofiller, gently restoring volume in delicate areas such as the under-eye hollow without using hyaluronic acid filler.
How it works
The process begins with a small blood draw. The blood is centrifuged using a different protocol from PRP — slower, no anticoagulant — which preserves the white blood cells and forms a soft fibrin scaffold. The scaffold is either applied topically with microneedling, or carefully placed via fine needle into delicate tissue planes. The fibrin holds the growth factors in place; the slow release maintains the regenerative environment for around two weeks.
Who it's for
PRF Biofiller is particularly good for the under-eye hollow, where conventional filler carries a risk of migration, discoloration or sustained puffiness. It is also a strong choice for clients who want fully autologous treatments and have already responded well to PRP.
The Lumara protocol
PRF is performed by a doctor — the placement requires precise anatomical knowledge and the consequences of imprecise placement (in the under-eye area especially) are real. We will not delegate this treatment.
Aftercare
Mild swelling for up to 48 hours, especially under-eye. Sleep slightly elevated for the first night. No saunas or strenuous exercise for 48 hours. Results emerge over four to six weeks.
Frequently asked
PRF Biofiller, in plain English.
How is this different from filler under the eye?
Hyaluronic acid filler under the eye can migrate, discolour, or hold water and look puffy years later. PRF Biofiller is your own tissue; it integrates and resolves naturally if not maintained, and carries none of those risks.
Why is it more expensive than PRP?
The processing is more complex (different centrifuge protocol, longer prep time) and the placement requires doctor-level skill. The result is also more sustained — typically nine to twelve months from a single session vs four to six from PRP alone.
