What are dermal fillers?
Hyaluronic-acid-based gels placed in specific tissue planes to restore lost volume, define structural features, or balance asymmetry. The gel is fully reversible — dissolved at any time with hyaluronidase if you change your mind, if there is a problem, or if the result was not what either of us intended.
We perform filler in four main areas: lip, cheek, chin and jawline definition, and tear trough. We do not chase volume; we do not "do" a face. We discuss what the face needs, agree the smallest intervention that will deliver the change, and document.
How it works
The filler is placed via fine needle or blunt-tip cannula into the appropriate tissue plane. It integrates with the surrounding tissue, holds water, and provides structural support for the duration of its action — typically nine to eighteen months depending on area, product and metabolism.
Who it's for
Adults with specific structural concerns: thin lips that have lost their natural shape, flat cheeks, undefined jawline, hollow tear trough. Filler is not the right tool for skin quality (use polynucleotides or our Signature Facial for that), and not the right tool for dynamic lines (Botox).
The Lumara protocol
Every new filler client starts with a 30-minute mapping consultation. We photograph in standard lighting, discuss what you want and what we recommend, and almost always agree to do less than you came in expecting. Top-ups happen on your timetable, not ours.
What we won't do
We will not perform tear-trough filler on a client who, in our opinion, is not a candidate (the hollow is too deep, the skin is too thin, the underlying anatomy carries too much risk). We will not over-fill lips. We will not do a "Russian lip" or any other technique whose primary effect is to make the face read as enhanced. We will not do filler under the age of 21 except in clinically indicated cases.
Aftercare
Mild swelling for 24–48 hours; small bruising possible for up to 7 days. Avoid alcohol, exercise and saunas for 48 hours. Sleep slightly elevated the first night. The final result settles around two weeks after the procedure — please don't judge it before then.
Frequently asked
Dermal Fillers, in plain English.
What if I don't like the result?
Hyaluronic acid filler is fully reversible with hyaluronidase. We can dissolve it within a week if needed. We discuss this fully at consultation; the option to dissolve is part of why hyaluronic-acid filler is the responsible choice over permanent options.
Will it look obvious?
Not if it's done conservatively. Filler done well restores what the face has lost; filler done badly adds what the face never had. We work to the first.
How long does it last?
Lip: typically 9–12 months. Cheek and jaw: 12–18 months. Tear trough: 9–12 months. Metabolism varies; some clients return for top-ups sooner, some later.
Are you trained in dissolving filler placed elsewhere?
Yes. If you have filler placed by another practitioner that you would like to dissolve, we are happy to assess and treat. We carry the appropriate emergency dissolving protocol on every shift.
